Once upon a time, there lived a gorgeous and rich merchant, Richard. He lived in a huge and beautiful mansion in the middle of a deep forest…alone. One day, while he was hunting in the thick forest, he heard a cry. He tried to find where the cry came from. Do you know what he found? It was a cute little baby. Seeing the cute and innocent face of the baby, Richard decided to adopt the girl. He named her, Rapunzel.
Day by day, Rapunzel grew up and became a cute little girl. Although she never left her father and always entertain him, Richard still felt lonely and deserted. He wanted to have a wife. So, he married to a beautiful and young widow (not a black widow) with two daughters. Her name is Rowena.
To be frank, Richard love Rapunzel the most… because she had was very beautiful, intelligent, hardworking and had a sweet voice. (Hey, don’t tell this to Rowena and her daughters, Roselle and Rania. They would be mad!!) They lived happily together until a day where an unfortunate event happen which destroyed their happiness!!
Richard was infected by a kind of disease which killed him after a month. Before he closed his eyes forever, he endowed all his properties to Rapunzel. Rapunzel or the rest of the family could not use the properties until Rapunzel turned twenty-one or if she died before that. If they fought against the law, they would be destroyed.
Rowena was very angry so that she abused Rapunzel to do all house chores such as cooking, sweeping, washing dishes and clothes. Rapunzel was very sad. But she had no choices or else she would be killed by her stepmother and stepsisters.
Rapunzel did all the house chores every day until one day, she fell sick. She felt very weak and could not do all the house chores as efficient as always. Her stepsisters were very furious so that they took her to the forest and left her there. She tried to follow them, unfortunately she stepped on a small hole that took her to weird place. She fainted.
After she regain from her unconsciousness, Rapunzel was surprised to see so many gold around her! She decided to take some of the gold and returned to home. Unfortunately, she was arrested by a wicked witch!
“Who are you? What are you doing in my secret room?” asked the witch.
“My name is Rapunzel. I don’t know why am I here. I fainted and when I woke up, I’m laid here…” answered Rapunzel, frightened.
“Where is your home? You can take the gold with you. But I must see your guardian!” asked the wicked witch.
Rapunzel told the witch where was her home and the witch take her there. Rowena and her daughters was shocked to see Rapunzel alive!
“Who are you?” asked Rowena furiously.
“My name is Myrna. I am a witch. Your daughter had stolen my precious gold. You could have it…but on one condition. You must present one of your daughters to me… forever!!” said the wicked witch.
“You could take Rapunzel with you…” Rowena hijacked the gold from Rapunzel and close the door of the mansion.
“No!! No!! Mother!!” Rapunzel cried and knocked on the door vigorously.
“No, little girl! You’re mine! Now…come with me…” said the witch with evil face.
The evil witch, Myrna took Rapunzel to a high and old castle. Rapunzel was left there alone. She did not do anything except singing and did all the house chores. Myrna would come and see her every day to give her some foods.
Myrna was actually a very beautiful woman. She had a magic pool (not a swimming pool) which told her everything that she wanted to know.
“Oh my magic pool… Tell me… who is the fairest among all?” asked the witch.
“You, my lord… But now… there’s another girl… Her name is Rapunzel…” answered the magic pool.
“What??” The witch was very angry.
“But, my lord… You could not kill her because she had a strong force of magic. You can cast a spell on her hair so that she will look shabby…” said the magic pool.
Myrna casted a spell on Rapunzel’s hair which made her hair grew longer and longer. Myrna used Rapunzel’s hair to climb up the castle as she made all the stairs in the castle disappear.
Every day, Rapunzel sang by the window while waiting for Myrna. Her singing was heard by a man who lived near the castle. He came and saw the beautiful Rapunzel singing by the window. While he was enjoying the sweet voice, Myrna came and shouted. “Oh, Rapunzel! Lay down your long hair so I can climb up the castle!” Rapunzel laid down her hair and Myrna climbed up.
The next day, after Myrna left, the man came and shouted to Rapunzel. “Oh, Rapunzel! Lay down your long hair so I can climb up the castle!” Rapunzel laid down her hair and the man climb up.
Rapunzel was very happy as she heard the man’s voice. She thought that the man would save her but she was totally wrong!
“Who are you? Are you a monkey?” asked Rapunzel as she saw the man with the beast’s face.
“No, I’m a man. My name is Eric. But people always call me Beast. I was cursed by my stepmother who wanted her son to be the king…” told Eric sadly.
“Are you a prince?” asked Rapunzel and Eric just nodded his head.
Suddenly, they heard Myrna’s voice below the window. Eric changed himself to a rat and hid behind the door.
“I could smell another human here, Rapunzel! If I found him… he’ll be dead!” said Myrna before she went out again the next morning.
Rapunzel did not like Eric because of his ugly face. But, Eric was very hardworking and kind. He helped Rapunzel to do all the house chores and entertain her every day.
Day by day, they became closer to each other. Frankly speaking, they were in love which each other. But Rapunzel never told Eric that she loved him.
One night, Myrna went to her pool. “I could smell another human in the castle! Who is he??”
“He is the beautiful Rapunzel’s lover, my lord. Cut down her hair so that he could not climb down and asked him to show himself…” said the pool.
Myrna cut down Rapunzel’s hair but Eric still did not show himself. One day, Myrna climb up the castle and give Rapunzel a cherry which she had casted a spell on it.
“Eat this or you’ll die!!” shouted Myrna.
Rapunzel took the cherry and ate it. After a few seconds, she fell down on the floor and fainted. Eric was very angry so that he showed up himself. Myrna was very shocked to see her stepson was there.
“How dare you!!” shouted Eric furiously. Myrna laughed wickedly her face turned as evil as she should be.
“You could save her and returned back to your true self. But you must sacrifice yourself, Eric!!” said Myrna, laughing.
“I’ll do anything for Rapunzel, Myrna!!” Eric sat down beside Rapunzel and cried. How could he save her?
Fortunately, his tears fell down on Rapunzel’s eyes. Rapunzel opened her eyes! Wow!! A few seconds after that, Eric fell down on the floor. Slowly, her ugly face regained and he became the most handsome man on the Earth! Rapunzel hold Eric on her lap and cried. “I love Eric…Please…don’t leave me!!”
“I love you too Rapunzel… Forever…” And Eric smiled before he closed his eyes…forever.
